First anniversary of Marissa Mayer on Yahoo :

First anniversary of Marissa Mayer on Yahoo :Internet Economy and Business On July 16 it was announced that Marissa Mayer would be the new CEO of Yahoo and the 17th began his stage at the helm of the company. A year after 17 purchases , it is undeniable that the company has changed .Today marks the first anniversary since it was announced the appointment of Marissa Mayer as CEO of Yahoo ( was effective the day after ) . At this time , the company has made 17 purchases (most importantly, Tumblr ) and, in general , one can say that the stage in Yahoo Marissa Mayer has served to give new life to the company. But there is still a long way to go .What can not be denied is that the Board has managed to give some institutional stability for signature. Until his arrival , the direction of the company had been in six people in the last six years. The most talked output was Scott Thompson , who resigned after it was discovered that it had included false information on your resume. It also seems less prone to litigation than its predecessor , which was involved in a legal battle with Facebook to anyone finished watching sense .

Marissa Mayer

But the important thing is not what has made Marissa Mayer on Yahoo , but the movements he has used his time. And it seems you've been busy, and that throughout this period there have been 17 purchases . Probably not depart from it all , but , at least, bear his signature . And the most important of these acquisitions, Tumblr , it does have all the earmarks of having been orchestrated by the directive.Seizing Yahoo Tumblr it cost 1,100 million. Part of this money was achieved through the sale of part of the shares of Alibaba Group that had the Chinese company . In fact, if their actions today is worth more due to growth in this group. If this changes in the future, will be in part due to this purchase."Apart from shopping, Yahoo has made changes to the design of some of its services " This year there were other changes in Yahoo services . Mail, for example, was redesigned and soon after launched a campaign to ' recover ' abandoned accounts and make them to return to be available for new users (the process will end in mid-August ) . Flickr also experienced a much needed change in design and increased storage capacity .

This, incidentally , represented one of the few faults committed in Yahoo Marissa Mayer . When he announced the news on Flickr , made comments that many considered offensive photographers . Instead of hiding or issue a statement, said several of them personally from his Twitter account . It is likely that the answer conduct a team member , but it is still an example of this new attitude nearest juvenile less corseted .Nor should we forget the influence of Mayer in the industry. The technology sector has women just as CEO , at least in major companies . Yahoo could help change this trend thanks to Mayer , despite his undoubted experience , has had to endure ridiculous scenes . The most famous example is the shareholder who began by explaining that it was " a dirty old man " and then tell the policy that is "very attractive " .Fortunately , this is almost anecdotal , because since his appointment was announced much emphasis has been placed on its origin (it was the twenty- Google employee and one of the architects of the search engine what it is today ) than sex.Anyway, the most important thing for Yahoo is that this is only the beginning. For the first time in a while the wheel takes someone with experience, youth , knowledge, and tables ; someone able to make the company regain its place or at least trying. In the first year there have been changes , the second will be more.

Too sexy for ya? Yahoo CEO poses for Vogue

Marissa Mayer’s glamour shot has sparked a boatload of debate about whether sexy magazine photos are appropriate for a CEO.

The glamour-shot photo of Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer in the September issue of Vogue is tame by fashion-magazine standards, but the fact that a huge company’s chief exec is lying on a deck chair in a form-fitting dress has divided the business community.

An online CNBC poll asking whether Mayer’s photo was appropriate for a CEO got more than 3,700 responses, 60 percent of which said it was fine, 40 percent of which said it was not OK.

Detractors say it reflects a double standard.

“I can't think of the last time a men's magazine chose to profile a CEO by asking him to sprawl out on a couch,” Patrice Grell Yursik, creator of Afrobella.com, told CNN. “When, let's say, GQ or Esquire is profiling someone on this level, they're not asking them to unbutton their shirt and pose suggestively with any kinds of props.”

Another commenter, Anna Nicole Moose, said "We fight so hard to be where we are and prove that it wasn't our cute bodies, perky boobs, or cute face that got us there.”
Several other critics pointed out that an implication seems to be that women who wouldn’t get a photo like Mayer’s in Vogue seem to be at a disadvantage when trying to snag CEO jobs.

As the CNBC poll indicates, plenty of others think Mayer’s photo is OK. Blogger Justgngr wrote:
There’s no reason that beautiful women can’t be industry leaders. Part of achieving equality for women in the workplace means that women shouldn’t have to succumb to societal pressures – in both directions. Women shouldn’t have to “harden” or “soften” themselves when in positions of leadership, but that also means women shouldn’t have to downplay their beauty in order to succeed.
Communications choreographer Kevin Brett blogged that the very fact that people are talking about the photo may have been the very purpose of it:
How many other publicly traded company CEOs would be invited by Vogue to pose in a horizontal fashion? What subliminal messages are being sent, particularly in a predominant Silicon Valley engineering culture? Talk about tongues wagging at the water cooler and the inevitable social media chat.

Maybe that is what this gambit is all about?
What do you think of the photo? Too far? No problem? A big publicity gambit? Please let us know in the comments.

How to make money online

       How to make money online

  1. The first step is to stop Googling things like, "how to make money online." Not because you shouldn't want to make money online, but because the stuff you're going to find by doing that is going to help you lose money online. Sort of like asking a casino owner how to make money in Vegas...
  2. Don't pay anyone for simple and proven instructions on how to achieve this goal. In particular, don't pay anyone to teach you how to write or sell manuals or ebooks about how to make money online.
  3. Get rich slow.
  4. Focus on the scarce resource online: attention. If you try to invent a way to take cheap attention and turn it into cash, you will fail. The attention you want isn't cheap, it's difficult to get via SEO and it rarely scales. Instead, figure out how to earnexpensive attention.
  5. In addition to attention, focus on trust. Trust is even more scarce than attention.
  6. Don't worry so much about the 'online' part. Instead, figure out how to create value. The online part will take care of itself.
  7. Don't quit your day job. Start evenings and weekends and figure it out with small failures.
  8. Build a public reputation. A good one, and be sure that you deserve it, and that it will hold up to scrutiny.
  9. Obsessively specialize. No niche is too small if it's yours.
  10. Connect the disconnected.
  11. Lead.
  12. Build an online legacy that increases in value daily.
  13. Make money offline. If you can figure out how to create value face to face, it's a lot easier to figure out how to do the same digitally. The web isn't magic, it's merely efficient.
  14. Become the best in the world at something that people value. Easier said than done, worth more than you might think.
  15. Hang out with people who aren't looking for shortcuts. Learn from them.
  16. Fail. Fail often and fail cheaply. This is the very best gift the web has given to people who want to bootstrap their way into a new business.
  17. Make money in the small and then relentlessly scale.
  18. Don't chase yesterday's online fad.
  19. Think big, act with intention and don't get bogged down in personalities. If it's not on your agenda, why are you wasting time on it?
  20. Learn. Ceaselessly. Learn to code, to write persuasively, to understand new technologies, to bring out the best in your team, to find underused resources and to spot patterns.
  21. This is not a zero sum game. The more you add to your community, the bigger your piece gets.
A few years ago I put my book The Bootstrapper's Bible online for free. You can find it here.
