Say what you will about Madonna, the master of reinvention/polarizing publicity seeker/custom-throne connoisseur is one of the most consistent fonts of wild, diva-like tour-demand rumors. Less than two weeks after it was reported that the Grammy winner requires a 200-person entourage, an on-site dry cleaner, 20 international phone lines, and her own personal furniture in each hotel room she occupies during her MDNA tour, a new report alleges that Madonna also employs a personal sterilization team to wipe down her dressing room with crime-scene-like precision when she leaves each location.

Mad Men Inspires U.K. Olympics Uniforms . . . for McDonald’s Staff Members

MAD MEN, Inspire, MC DONALDS, UNIFORMS
Even U.K. McDonald’s employees are getting special treatment in anticipation of this summer’s Olympic Games in London. The restaurant chain hired British fashion designer Wayne Hemingway to update the uniforms of its staff, from unflattering brown polo shirts to arguably even more unflattering polo shirts in mustard and “gherkin”-green shades. In what could be an attempt to make this transformation into sickly condiment-colored tops seem sexier, the chain has announced that the style was inspired by Mad Men. (A quick glance of the promotional photo above reveals a uniform that Megan Draper would not touch, even if she were playing an overworked fast-food employee in an Off Off Broadway production or sadly starring in a McDonald’s commercial produced by Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce.) In addition to the aforementioned shirts, male managers will be outfitted in skinny ties while female managers will wear pencil skirts. Additionally, baseball hats have been switched out for tighter-fitting “jockey caps” with smaller peaks. The uniform will premiere at the four McDonald’s locations on the Olympics site before being distributed to all McDonald’s workers in the U.K. In the press release, the vice president of U.K. McDonald’s, who is probably not required to wear a gherkin-green polo, boasted, “If you look good and feel good you will be happier at work and do your job better.” If only McDonald’s had the budget to hire Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant for the sartorial update . . . can you imagine the silk-chiffon batwinged dreses and Vivier flats behind the deep fryer?

Kim’s Bikini Body Secrets!

How she dropped five kilos to get beach beautiful…
Kim’s Bikini, Body, Secrets, Kim Kardashian Though she’s always been known for her generous curves, Kim Kardashian has been making jaws drop on the beaches of Malibu recently with her rocking bikini body. Having dropped five kilos through a combination of healthy eating and workouts, Kim’s famous curves have been toned up and slimmed down, catapulting her to the top of the ‘Best Bikini Body’ polls. Star Style discovers how she did it… Fat jibes The 29-year-old has not always been so proud to show off her awesome body, admitting that as the first girl at school to wear a bra, she hated her famous curves. “I remember crying in the bathtub,” she told Shape magazine. “I took a washcloth, made it hot, put it over my chest and prayed, ‘Please don’t let them grow any bigger. They’re embarrassing me.’” And even as an adult, Kim’s been subjected to nasty jibes about her generous proportions, with fellow reality star, Shanna Moakler cruelly dubbing her a “fat donkey.” “If there’s a picture that’s not perfect, where I have cellulite, then people say I’m big,” says Kim. ”People attack my true size, but the reality is that I look bigger on TV.” Facing the critics While Kim admits she’ll never be super skinny (“I have curves and that’s never going to change”) she resolved to embrace her curves and make the most of her body with healthy lifestyle changes. “The most important thing is not to be shy – work with what you have,” she says. Kim signed on as spokesperson for weight-loss supplement Quicktrim, which she combines with a high-protein low-carb diet. She switched calorie-laden morning frappucinos for oatmeal or fruit, and she snacks on fruit instead of cookies. Hitting the gym Kim has also been hitting the treadmill between three and five times a week to tone up her butt, legs and tum. Detailing her workout regime on her blog, Kim revealed, “I start off with running on the treadmill for about 30 minutes. I run at least three kilometres per workout, then I lift weights for another 30 minutes. I alternate between working on my arms and legs, switching every other workout. I then do a bunch of stomach exercises and then stretch. When I get home, I always do some extra leg lifts, lunges and squats!” Kim’s typical daily diet Breakfast Poached eggs, turkey bacon and fruit Lunch Cobb salad with ranch dressing Snack Sliced apple with one tablespoon of peanut butter Dinner Grilled salmon served with pesto sauce, one cup of brown rice and two cups of broccoli

Top Ten Secrets to Saving Big Money in the Airline Flights

Do you know that some people travel around the country and abroad, for both business and pleasure, and save bundles of money in the process? They do that by using little known ways of really taking advantage of the most popular form of transportation - airline flights. They don't rely on the ever-famous "airfare price-wars". They don't rely on their travel agents to save money while flying. Certainly, you should not dismiss these two methods. The price-wars can work to your advantage. But depending on them too much is a big mistake. 1. Call the airlines. Call the airlines between midnight and 1 a.m. Monday through Friday to get cheaper tickets. Most people never realize that at midnight, airline agents revise and load new fares into their computers. The best fares are just after they have done the updating! 2. Check into other airports other than the main one you use. Many major cities have two airports. Check into surrounding towns and cities so you can compare airfares. You may save hundreds of dollars on your flights. 3. The early bird catches the plane. The earlier you book your flight the more you save. Most special fares have restrictions of 7 to 30 day advance purchase. Usually non-refundable but they can offer deep discounts. On the other hand, there are "last minute" deals too. Visit www.smartliving.com to get emails for last minute deals. 4. Get out of town on Wednesday. Mid-week travel is usually less expensive. If you leave on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and stay over a Saturday night, you can garner terrific savings compared to Friday through Monday when most people fly. Start taking your vacations Wednesday-to-Wednesday or Tuesday-to-Tuesday. You'll save a lot by choosing your departure and arrival dates this way! 5. Buying a one way or split ticket. Let's say you travel from Boston to Dallas. It may be cheaper to get two separate tickets. You could buy one ticket from Boston to Nashville and one from Nashville to Dallas. It all depends on the connecting cities and your airlines hubs. Just tell your agent you are willing to travel out of other airports and connect using regional airports to save money. 6. Open wide. You should look into what is called an "Open-Jaw" ticket. These are used when a traveler is arriving and departing from different cities. One ticket is purchased to cover both cities. Check with your travel agent or airline representative to see if this trick is available instead of two one-way tickets. Compare the price of each. 7. An excellent online service www.sidestep.com You enter destinations and dates and SideStep quickly searches a couple of dozen affiliated regional and international airlines to find the best rates. 8. "Code share". Ask your agent if this flight is a "code-share" flight. That means the same flight is offered by two different airlines. Just copy down the name of the other airline and check into what they are charging. Only one of the airlines is actually operating the flight. The actual operator always offers this flight for less, so book with them. 9. Sign up for the airline newsletters. From weekend getaways to international flight packages the newsletter saves you money on travel and doesn't require that you constantly visit the airline website for the latest offering. 10. The airlines often slash their fares during sluggish travel times. Scan your travel sections in the newspapers and talk to your agent about these low fares

First flight of 747-8 Freighter

First flight of 747-8 Freighter 747-8 First flight Painting a jumbo jet 747-8 Boeing/Bob Schneider Weighing in at more than one million pounds, RC521, the second 747-8 Freighter, took off from Victorville, California. 747-8's one million pound takeoff By Bernard Choi The airplane starts accelerating down the runway. In the flight deck, Captain Paul Stemer feels the weight of the situation. Adrian Butler Boeing/Bob SchneiderBoeing, 747-8, first fligth, Before the flight, Boeing Flight Test pilot Capt. Paul Stemer inspects one of the tires supporting the 747-8 Freighter. "It's a lot of mass, a lot of energy. I have to stay ahead of it." It's up to Capt. Stemer to command RC521, the second 747-8 Freighter, into defying gravity and lifting more than 1 million pounds into the air. It's a feat neither he nor any Boeing Flight Test pilot before him has ever attempted. While the airplane gathers speed, 100 knots, 120, 140, now 160 knots, the amount of available runway quickly evaporates. RC521 still needs to go faster before Capt. Stemer can command the elevator to rotate the airplane, increasing the wing's angle of attack and generating lift. "With only 7,000 feet (2,133 m) of a 15,000-foot (4,572 m) runway remaining, it's obvious the margin of error is small," says Capt. Stemer.
