Miss America delivers Blizzards, smiles to kids

NEW BRUNSWICK — Miss America 2012, Laura Kaeppeler, a national goodwill ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, visited patients at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital and delivered Blizzard ice cream treats during the seventh annual Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day on Thursday. One dollar or more from every Blizzard Treat sold at participating locations on Thursday will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. Children’s Specialized Hospital will receive donations made in Central and North Jersey Dairy Queens. The donations will help the hospital provide life-changing services to children affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays and life-changing illnesses. “It was a true pleasure visiting the children here at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital,” Kaeppeler said. “Seeing the joy on their faces as we handed out the Blizzards touched me, knowing that we were able to make their day just a little bit brighter.”
